Tapping into the Huge Smartphone Market with an App or a Mobile Website
The smartphone market is already huge. Hundreds of thousands of smartphone apps are ready for download from app marketplaces. The smartphones are becoming more powerful and the screens are getting bigger. The smartphones are getting smarter, brighter and for many the preferred way to consume Web content.
Recent report estimates smartphone users will reach one billion by the year 2014 and by then smartphone apps might be as much as one million.
Anyone running a Web business cannot look past this change in the way people access and consume Web content. For some types of content, it is possible, that in the near future, the preferred way to consume that content is via smartphones and that includes tablet computers.
For a Web site owner that wants to get into the smartphone game there are three options. One is to create a version of the Web site for mobile or smartphones. The other is to develop apps that could be an extension of a Web site.
The third option is to create both and that option might be the one that is the most effective. Creating an app and a mobile version of a Web site might also add more credibility to those selling products and services online and can bring many new opportunities.
