Web Design for Larger Displays

The Web page you are looking at is best viewed in 1024 pixel wide screen display or larger. Few years back 800x600 ruled, but not anymore. Screen displays have grown bigger in the past years. Seventeen and nineteen inches are probably the norm today for desktop computers and fifteen-sixteen inches for laptops.

Larger displays and higher screen resolution is making the life of Web designers much easier since having more pixels to work with means additional graphical options such as larger images and photographs, more space for additional functionality, more whitespace and larger and therefore clearer text.

According to this monitor resolution statistics, eighty percent of Web users view Web pages with a screen resolution of 1024x768 and higher. Keeping Web pages within this size boundary makes your Web page easily viewable by most Web users. The measurement that probably matters the most is the width of the screen, at least for Web sites.
