Should you apply the ALT attribute to all images or only few? These are perhaps the most common considerations a webmaster has regarding the ALT attribute.

Let us apply common sense to the ALT attribute. The ALT attribute is just like any other textual content on a Web page. Therefore, it should enhance the textual content and be relevant to the Web page's meaning. Some say it is a good thing to contain the most important keywords within the ALT attribute, but without stuffing. Some say it is wise to keep the length of the ALT attribute within 80-100 characters that should be adequate to explain the image or multimedia content behind the attribute.

ALT attribute that enhances Web page's content, meaning and helps the user to navigate the Web site and get the information he/she is looking for is perhaps the best ALT attribute.
