Meta Information on Web Pages

Meta tags had their hay days in the last decade of the last century, yet they are very important, but at least one type of Meta tag, the KEYWORD, is on the way out. The inappropriate use of the KEYWORD tag has made it almost useless.

Meta information is important for Web sites because its purpose is to provide the outside world, including other computers, information about what your Web site is about, how other computers should handle the information it contains and a way to enhance user's experience with various technical configurations such as cache and refresh.
