Doing Advanced Titles on Web Pages

Web page titles serve multiple purposes and deserve a great deal of attention by webmasters. The often underestimated and overlooked title tag can have dramatic affects on the number of possible visitors and even the bottom line of a Web business.

Why is the title tag important? We have already discussed the title as a part of browser bookmarks, but the real power of titles is its role in the results of searches performed at the search engines. The title plays the most important role is getting the searcher to visit your Web page instead of someone else's Web page and possible your competitor.

How should the perfect title be? That is a good question and those that have mastered the magic of creating the perfect title may not want to share it with the world. We are for a common sense regarding the titles. We look at them as a short ad that advertises the content of a Web page or the product and services promoted on a Web page. The title should of course be informative about what a Web page contains without being misleading. Keeping the title shorter that 65-70 characters will probably ensure the entire title is visible within listings, but short titles can be very effective as well.
