Meta Tags
Html is a markup language. It marks a text document with tags, Web browsers interpret these tags, and the result is a formatted document visible in the Web user's browser window. Html tags can also define document structure in a way that importance of various parts is understandable, both for machines and humans, and resemble the layout of classic word processing documents. One such is the Heading tag (H1-6).

The title of a Web page is important. A common truth that is almost undisputable. The Meta description tag is on the other hand of lesser importance, but how important is disputable. The Meta description tag is useless for Web site visitors, but it can be very useful for computers and search engine crawlers reading and indexing a Web site of which many use it to publish excerpt on link pages and in search engine results.

During the early days of the Web's search engines the Meta description tag played an important role for Web sites along with the keywords Meta tag. Nowadays, the keywords Meta tag is of lesser importance while the description tag has held its position of importance.
