Instant Search and the Long Tail of Search Engine Marketing

Instant search is entering our comfort zone with a bang. This is the hot topic in the industry. The big question is how this exciting new way of searching will affect the way Web sites and Web pages are designed, maintained and promoted.

One of the concerns that pop into mind is the way instant search affects the ever popular "long tail" search. If you do not know it then "long tail" search is when users type keyword phrases of 2 or more words making the search query very specific. In our opinion instant search decreases the length of search phrases we usually had to type in when searching the traditional way. In our opinion instant search is simply a much better search experience.

If search queries are getting shorter and fewer words needed to get the desired results then it will of course affect "long tail" search results.
