Blogging with Words: Page and Text Size
There are photo and video-blogs that publish multi-media content instead of text, but many of these blogs have textual content as well. The content of the typical business blog as we know it is the text it contains, the main ingredient. A search for a keyword or phrase with the major search engines frequently contains results with blogs. It is a fact that for years search engines have been deeply in love with blogs.
Blogs contain the elements that have become important when ranking Web sites such as plenty of ingoing and outgoing links, a sizable chunk of text, navigation links and they are easy to discover once someone starts linking to them such as on another blog or from RSS feeds pinged to blog search engines and directories. The element of communication and exchange of information is a part of the blog Web publishing model.
The tables and chart below is based on data from two samples of business blogs and one large sample of Web sites having a favorable position with major search engines for comparison.

The above data shows clearly how a large part images occupy of the overall page size. Business blogs are richer in text, which is of no surprise, and they are richer in graphics and link code. Business blogs having prominent positions within search engine results use less space for text and code, but use almost as much space for images as the non-search related sample.
Looking at the data it is very clear there is alot of room for business blogs to optimize Html code and reduce size of graphics to make their Web site load faster and lower bandwidth and hosting mileage.
