The semantic Web is a buzzword used more frequently than before. How to make a Web page marked up semantically is beyond the scope of this humble piece of text. Semantically marking up HTML page is possible today, it has a learning curve, but webmasters heading into the future may eventually have to consider the concept and get a hang of it.
What is the semantic Web? Wikipedia gives us a little bit of insight into the semantic Web: "The semantics of information and services on the web is defined, making it possible for the web to understand and satisfy the requests of people and machines to use the web content" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semantic_Web - (08/01/2008)
In our understanding, this means a Web site uses certain markup to define content in details making it easy for computers and search engines to understand the Web site's content, its resources and references and making it easier to connect Web sites of similar interest together. XML, OWL and RDF are at the center of the tools and markup used for this purpose. If the semantic Web will take off then it will probably mean XML and RDF is of the essence for all webmasters to learn.
