Social Media: The Holy Grail of Free Advertising

It is hard to imagine that only few years back the concept social media did not exist. Nowadays it is one of the hottest of all Web topics among those running a commercial Website. Just like in the early days of the Web, advertisements and any kind of promotion in the new social media were scarce and marketers did not know how to handle it, but not anymore.

The flagship of all social media is without a doubt Facebook. It seems everyone has a profile including many companies. Mom and pop stores are on Facebook selling all kind of stuff. Depending on the number of friends, any news or "promotion" can spread fast. Twitter is another example where people and companies tweet anything and that includes promotion and even advertising. Depending on the number of followers, the news and promotion can spread fast and generate many visitors to a Website, an app or other social media accounts.

Both of the aforementioned and highly popular Web services are mostly free to use and contain some of the best opportunities for free advertising there is today.
