External and internal links page are the key elements of any Web page intended to be findable and user friendly. Links are valuable and have been an inspiration for many theories and ideas on link building, link quality, link ranking, link management and link analysis.
According to our study 99.85% of Web pages have at least one link and the average number of links on the studied Web pages is no less than 109 of which 61 are unique and internal (linking to other Web pages on the same Web site) and 23 are unique and external. The average length of link code, including link text, is 13600 characters, which is on average approximately 33% of Html document length.
Managing all these links requires a lot of effort including tasks such as making sure the links are active, not from a bad neighborhood, having optimized link text, correctly positioned, relative to Web site?s content and making sure they are properly marked up.
There are many tools available for Webmasters to help them manage and analyze their links and many of them are online tools or browser add-ons free to use.
