Visual Enhancements: Flipping Web Elements and Display Ads

The variety of JavaScript libraries, frameworks and associated plugins and additions is unbelievable. A large chunk of the JavaScript ecosystem is open source and free to use in Web projects. This makes using JavaScript for all kinds of on-page solutions a very viable option and a whole lot of fun. Webmasters with minimum knowledge of JavaScript can easily create stunning eye-catching Web sites using JavaScript libraries, frameworks and plugins.

We are jQuery fans and we share that with many webmasters and Web developers. The ease of use and power involved in jQuery is astonishing compared to the small footprint of the library. The jQuery library itself has many options for animation and on-page interactivity such as hiding, showing, fading, wiping, animating and toggling just to name a few. This is in addition to all the plugins that take the visual appeal one-step further.

One such jQuery plugin is Flip, a plugin true to jQuery characteristics of simplicity and small footprint. This plugin adds only 6kb to a Web page but offers fascinating visual effects. The plugin is suitable for displaying advertisements, content and navigational elements. We decided to try Flip and if we can use it on a Web page so can you; it is as simple as that. We followed the instructions available on the Flip Web site.
